How do you know if a stock is worth buying?
Consistent Growth
If you're looking for a good long-term investment, you'll want to pick stocks that have a good track record of consistent earnings growth. The more a company can show that it can perform well even in slower economic times, the more likely it will be a good long-term investment.

Metrics like earnings growth, price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio, and profit margin can potentially help isolate possible danger signs for a stock. Traders often compare a stock to its sector and see how it's doing compared to other stocks. Case in point: the P/E ratio.
Look for strong sectors and industry groups if you want to go long—that is, buy a stock with the expectation that its price will rise—and weak ones if you want to go short—which means borrowing and selling a stock whose price you think is going to fall, and then buying it back later at a lower price should it actually ...
Before purchasing or selling any stock, it is important that you consider the price and valuation of the stock. If the company is trading at PE multiples of less than 20, it is considered as undervalued and hence a good buy.

Stock prices tend to fall in the middle of the month. So a trader might benefit from timing stock buys near a month's midpoint—the 10th to the 15th, for example. The best day to sell stocks would probably be within the five days around the turn of the month.

If demand for a limited number of shares outpaces the supply, then the stock price normally rises. And if the supply is greater than demand, the stock price typically falls.
You'll need the original purchase price and the current value of your stock in order to make the calculation. Subtract the total purchase price from the current price of the stock then divide that by the original purchase price and multiply that figure by 100. This gives you the total percentage change.

The 11 am rule suggests that if a market makes a new intraday high for the day between 11:15 am and 11:30 am EST, then it's said to be very likely that the market will end the day near its high.
Some traders follow something called the "10 a.m. rule." The stock market opens for trading at 9:30 a.m., and the time between 9:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. often has significant trading volume. Traders that follow the 10 a.m. rule think a stock's price trajectory is relatively set for the day by the end of that half-hour.
Reinvest Your Payments
The truth is that most investors won't have the money to generate $1,000 per month in dividends; not at first, anyway. Even if you find a market-beating series of investments that average 3% annual yield, you would still need $400,000 in up-front capital to hit your targets. And that's okay.
Is Amazon a good stock to buy?
So buying Amazon's stock today, while it doesn't provide any discount to investors, is probably still acceptable considering its business's quality and ongoing prospects. Price-to-book ratio (P/B)
P/B ratio is used to assess the current market price against the company's book value (assets minus liabilities, divided by number of shares issued). To calculate it, divide the market price per share by the book value per share. A stock could be undervalued if the P/B ratio is lower than 1.
Price-earnings ratio (P/E)
A high P/E ratio could mean the stocks are overvalued. Therefore, it could be useful to compare competitor companies' P/E ratios to find out if the stocks you're looking to trade are overvalued. P/E ratio is calculated by dividing the market value per share by the earnings per share (EPS).
